43rd and Ridgeland, Stickney IL The Public Works Department and the Water Department are under the jurisdiction and direction of the Village Supervisor. Garbage Pickup: Garbage is picked-up Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday – depending on the location of your residence in the village. All residents who do not have alleys must have their garbage out for pickup on Tuesday. It must be placed at the curb line. All garbage must be in a container and that container may not be larger than thirty-five (35) gallons in size. GARBAGE PLACED IN FRONT OF RESIDENCES MAY NOT BE PUT OUT PRIOR TO 6:00 P.M. Yard Waste: All yard waste must be separated from regular garbage and placed in a NON-RETURNABLE biodegradable paper bag or on the resident’s own rigid container, which will be emptied and returned by the pickup crew. Yard waste in any type of plastic bag will not be accepted. The pickup of yard waste is made on MONDAYS only for the entire village from 6:00 A.M. through 8:00 P.M. YARD WASTE MAY NOT BE PLACED IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE PRIOR TO 6:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY. ALL YARD WASTE IS PICKED UP IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENT’S HOME. THERE IS NO ALLEY OR SIDE STREET PICKUP.
Fall Leaf Removal/Street Clean-up: The village has a Fall Leaf Cleaning Program to remove fallen leaves. LEAVES MAY NOT BE BURNED IN THE VILLAGE. The removal program runs from October 16th, 2000 through November 28th 2000. Leaves must be placed loose in the gutter of the street in front of the resident’s home, not before 6:00p.m. the night prior to pick-up. Removal is done on the side of the street with the even-numbered addresses (West and North Sides of Streets) on Mondays. Odd-numbered addresses (East and South Sides of Streets) on Tuesdays. Vehicles may not be parked from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. in front of their residence on the day of the designated pickup. All violators will be ticketed. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SEPARATE PROGRAM FROM YARD WASTE DISPOSAL. ALL YARD WASTE FOR THE ENTIRE VILLAGE IS PUT OUT ON MONDAY AND NO CONTAINER OR BAG MAYBE PLACED IN THE STREET.
Recycling: Newspaper, aluminum (cans, etc.) bottles, and plastic containers are currently the only materials that are picked-up for recycling. A blue, plastic container is provided by the village in which the recycled materials must be placed. Pickup of these materials is made on the same day as your garbage pickup, throughout the entire village. "The container must be placed in front of the residence." THE CONTAINER MAY NOT BE PUT OUT IN FRONT PRIOR TO 6:00 P.M. PRIOR TO YOUR DAY OF PICK-UP. The recycling bins, provided by the village, may not be used for yard waste or garbage. Water Meters: Water meters are read every three months, depending upon what section of the village in which you reside. Consequently, water bills are received once every three months. Any questions or problems should be referred to the village water department.
Snow Removal: When snow accumulation is over (2) inches, the following "No Parking" regulations will be enforced. On EVEN days, there will be NO PARKING on the NORTH and WEST sides of the street from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. On odd days, there will be NO PARKING on the EAST and SOUTH sides of the street from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.
