The Police Department is located in the municipal building and can be reached by phone, or in person, twenty-four (24) hours a day at 708.788.2131. FOR EMERGENCIES DIAL 9-1-1. The office of the Police Chief is always open and receptive to input. Village residents are strongly encouraged to communicate with the department any time with all concerns. The department endeavors to be "service-oriented" in that it provides presentations to schools and civic groups on a variety of topics. Police protection is rendered twenty-four (24) hours per day by members of the department Police department also has a motorcycle and bike patrol unit. Calls are received at the dispatch center, which features an enhanced 9-1-1 and "state of the art" equipment. Closed Homes: If a residence is closed for an extended period of time, you may register the address with the department so that a list of emergency contacts, key holders, time of lights on/off etc. are on file in the event of an emergency. To register closed home, you must come into the police station in person. Residential Parking Restrictions: A town ordinance prohibits the parking of any size commercial trucks, or RVs on village streets overnight (11:59 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.) during the week, or anytime Saturday or Sunday. There is also a height and size, and other restrictions on RVs and boats parked on private property. Complete information on all restrictions are available at the village hall or police department. Vehicle Registration: All motor vehicles are required to purchase and display a current vehicle tag. Yearly tags are purchased after May 1st and must be displayed by July 1st. Those vehicles not displaying a valid tag, unmoved or unused, in the state of disrepair or incapable of being driven on a public street are subject to ticketing and/or removal.
